Agriculture teachers should be certified in the area of agriculture
education through the Georgia Professional Practices Commission. Certification
is based upon completion of an approved course of study in agricultural
education from an accredited college or university and posting of a passing
score on the examination required for teacher certification in agriculture.
Currently, the examination required is the Praxis.
In Georgia, two institutions have accredited programs in agricultural
education, the University of Georgia and Fort Valley State University.
In addition, classes in education may be required for certification.
